The Clown Vomit Community,
We are proud to say that after a hiatus of over a year we finally have great news to report to the Clown Vomit community as well as the world- We have officially released our first vinyl record on our own label/distribution company! We would personally like to thank everyone and anyone who has supported us since the beginning and now has something that they always wanted… a physical Clown Vomit tangible item!
Why release a record? Let’s face it… the music industry and the current state of the music business model sucks. It doesn’t work in favor of the record labels, the bands, or most importantly, the fans. Since the rise of Napster, the mp3, Itunes, and now currently the ‘Cloud’ (whatever the fuck that is), bands have been looking for alternative ways to get people to not just buy their music, but actually be a part of their music.
With vinyl record sales now the highest they have been in 30 years (YES 30 YEARS) the 4 major record companies have decided to jump aboard to get their piece of the action. Current releases of old albums are now available online at Amazon, Best Buy, hundreds of other online outlets, and there is even a ‘holiday’ called Record Store Day, where vinyl aficionados all team together to buy vinyl records not just around the country, but the whole world.
Vinyl is not just back because it sounds better. It’s not just back because it’s the newest trendy thing to do. After over 10 years of digitally processed music, fans are buying records for a variety of reasons. Some want some physical. They want to be able to hold it in their hands and share the artwork with friends. They want to sit in a room with people and all hear the music together, not listen to good music through cheap headphones at the gym, or some other place like a grocery store. Music is an experience, and it seems after a long sleep, people are finally waking up again. They want to be a part of the musical experience once more. Further, Clown Vomit is going above and beyond the musical standards once more, ushering a new age of musical innovation, discovery, distribution, and record collecting.
Our first record, titled Sunshine in the Morning is now officially released with this press statement. Each of the 500 copies (Hand numbered on the label) pressed come with handmade covers by the band and are all different. Most are collages of a bunch of weird stuff thrown together, while some may be drawings, paintings, etc. Our goal is to take photographs of each front and back and post them on our website. Also included in the record is a lyric sheet (so you can sing along) with all the information that you would need (incase you wanted to write us letters, or anything else). The biggest surprise is that all are on what is called randomly mixed colored vinyl. This gives them a marble effect and they truly do look amazing. All have an orange/brown/greenish/yellow tint to them however, making it look like someone actually threw up or shit on them. Incredible. The first 100 copies will also include a 4 x 6 limited edition photo of the band from a live memorial show we did following the death of former Clown Vomit member Timothy Valerio. The album is dedicated in his memory.
What does one pay for this groundbreaking achievement of both musical caliber and artistic merit? 15 bucks. That’s right- 15 bucks. Why pay 9.99 for a shitty album that is invisible on Itunes, when you can have a one of a kind Clown Vomit record? By purchasing this record, you are not only supporting Clown Vomit, but our label/distribution company Nomad Vinyl (we plan to distribute our own music every several months if this works out for us, as well as distribute other bands’ own releases and compilations). Also, you are supporting a vinyl scene- a group of people who are dedicated to a philosophy of physical music, and physically owning music. You are entering a circle of people all over the world who are giving a big ‘Fuck You’ to the major record companies out in the world who listen to records not because ‘they are cool,’ but because it is the best way to listen to music in the comfort of your own house. The 15 dollars includes all of our fees (shipping and handling, Paypal fees, and taxes). If you are interested in buying a copy please send $15 to us through our record label's paypal address NomadVinyl1@gmail.com.
In the next few days this website as well as our Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and other sites will be bombarded with Paypal links, etc. If you have never supported us in the past, please do so now, and if you have been a fan, now is the perfect time for you to help spread the Clown Vomit even further. Please help support our DIY ethic philosophy.
Cheers,
Anthony Giannotti & all of Clown Vomit
